Gray Smith

SOLICITOR, MA (OXON), ASCI

Gray has over 25 years' experience in the wealth and asset management field.

 

He has been a partner in several major international law firms, both in the UK and offshore and is qualified in England, Ireland, the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong.

 

Gray's last major project was as General Counsel & Head of Compliance for Woodford Investment Management, including structuring and launching the firm and funds.

 

He has advised funds of all sizes and investment type with regard to structuring, distribution, governance and all other regulatory issues in the UK, EU and offshore markets.

 

Gray has advised wealth managers and asset managers in the hedge fund, private equity, property and alternative space as well as retail funds during the course of his career.

 

Gray has held numerous directorships with asset managers and fund boards. Gray is a board director of Redstone (UniCredit).

 

Gray combines innovative legal and structuring advice with a reputation for honesty and integrity recognised over his 25 years in the industry. He was partner, general counsel and chief compliance officer on the launch of Neil Woodford’s investment management business and the UK’s largest ever UCITS launch.

Charles Grime

SOLICITOR, LLB (HONS)

Charles has over 15 years’ experience in capital markets, asset management and private equity.

 

Charles trained and practised with a leading magic circle law firm, continuing his private practice career with a major US law firm before moving offshore. Charles is qualified in the UK and the Eastern Caribbean.

 

In 2007, Charles set up the first large-scale renewable energy platform in Kenya, East Africa. He has a wealth of experience in conducting business in Africa and negotiating with all levels of African business from African Governments to Development Finance Institutions. Latterly, Charles joined a leading London-based asset manager to structure and manage their African Renewables Fund.

 

Charles has advised funds, corporates and family offices with regard to structuring, distribution, governance and all other regulatory issues in the UK, Africa and offshore markets. He advises international clients on entry into the African market.

 

Charles is known for his integrity and his ability to get the job done even in challenging circumstances.   He has strong relationships with professionals, industry participants, the Development Finance Institutions and Governments.
